Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 9 October 2026
PaceFox helps a family make room for regular breaks between viewing sessions. These terms explain the service, the parent’s choices and how paid access works.
Please read these terms and our Privacy Policy. The privacy policy explains processing; accepting these terms does not replace consent where the law requires it.

1. Operator and scope
Stephan Düchtel, operating PaceFoxFrutolfstr. 26a
96049 Bamberg, Germany
Email: mail@pacefox.app
“PaceFox”, “we” and “us” mean this operator. “You” means the adult account holder. A “child profile” is a profile that you manage within your family account. The “service” means the PaceFox app and related account services that we make available to you.
These service terms supplement the licence and purchase terms applicable to your download from the App Store. Unless a separate custom licence is supplied for the app, Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app licence. Nothing here removes mandatory consumer rights or the store’s applicable rights and obligations.
The supported iOS versions, device requirements, available features and prices are described in the app and its store listing. The current app supports YouTube and Netflix browsing, guided movement breaks and quiet breaks. Android is not currently offered. Browser registration and account management use the same PaceFox family account; web subscription checkout is not currently available.
2. Parents, accounts and children
The account holder must be at least 18 and legally able to enter the agreement. Only a parent or legal guardian with authority for a child may connect that child’s profile. Children do not purchase Plus or enter a separate account contract merely by using a connected profile.
Keep your parent sign-in credentials private, provide a working email address and tell us if your account is compromised. Use password recovery or your Apple or Google account’s recovery process, as appropriate for your sign-in method. You are responsible for managing access you intentionally give to others; you are not automatically liable for every unauthorized action simply because it occurred through your account.
Use a nickname rather than unnecessary identifying information for a child. Pair devices deliberately and keep QR invitations and manual codes private. Review which profiles a device can access, particularly when siblings share a tablet. The optional child PIN helps separate profiles; it does not replace parent authentication.
Explain the routine and the information visible to you in an age-appropriate way. The app is intended for parent-managed child use. This does not establish a universal minimum age or permission to use each streaming provider. Required privacy notices and any legally required parental consent must be in place. The account holder’s adult/guardian acknowledgement does not independently verify parental authority and does not override applicable child-protection requirements.
3. Viewing routines and device controls
You select the break type and the break and viewing durations offered in the app. Movement is the default break type; a parent can choose quiet breaks instead. PaceFox counts foreground time in its viewing area, including browsing and advertisements. Free does not set a total daily maximum; repeated breaks can lead to further viewing sessions. Plus provides the additional limits and family features displayed at purchase.
Controls apply inside PaceFox. They do not block Safari, Chrome, the separate YouTube or Netflix apps, another device or every service on the operating system. PaceFox is not a replacement for supervision or a guarantee that content is suitable for a child.
Internet access is needed for account and device setup, streaming and synchronizing changes. Free manages the ordinary routine locally, with periodic online ownership checks. Plus uses server-coordinated viewing permission. An already-issued viewing allowance can continue briefly without a connection; the current maximum grant is 60 minutes and may be shorter because of the routine, schedule or another applicable boundary. An offline device cannot necessarily apply a new block immediately. We show confirmation or pending status where available. A submitted change is not proof that every device has received it.
Time totals are estimates of PaceFox usage, not certified measurements. After an interruption, crash or lost connection, reserved time may count as used even if it was not fully watched. If a device cannot verify permission, viewing may pause until it reconnects. Contact us about persistent discrepancies.
With Plus, Timeout pauses watching for a duration, until a chosen time or until resumed. Exception allows watching without breaks, daily limits or schedule restrictions for a finite duration, up to 24 elapsed hours. Timeout, content restrictions and device authorization still apply. Normal time restrictions return when the exception ends; saved routine settings are not changed. Do not rely on the service for emergency communication, medical monitoring or safety-critical access decisions.
4. Breaks and safety
PaceFox is a general family-routine tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment or individualized exercise prescriptions. It does not promise a particular health, developmental or educational outcome. A preselected duration is a software setting, not a medical recommendation.
Choose movements and durations appropriate to your child’s abilities and circumstances, supervise as needed, and allow sufficient space with the device positioned securely. Never require a child to exercise through pain or distress to obtain viewing time. Stop if a movement causes pain, dizziness or unusual discomfort; seek suitable professional advice if you have concerns about exercise suitability.
Your child can stop a break and leave the app at any time. Use the parent controls where a break is unsuitable, including because of disability, injury, lack of space or camera failure.
Quiet breaks are available with both Free and Plus. They offer a timed pause with the fox and optional calming audio, without using the camera or requiring exercise. The parent chooses the break type; it is not a medical assessment or treatment.
Movement breaks use the camera and on-device pose estimation to recognize participation. Permission is requested by the operating system; camera frames and pose landmarks are not uploaded to PaceFox. Tracking is approximate and can miss or miscount movement. It does not verify identity, correct exercise technique or physical fitness. Break durations are approximate because positioning, rests and participation affect completion. Parent controls provide alternatives when a break is unsuitable; do not require a child to overcome tracking errors through excessive movement.
5. YouTube, Netflix and third-party services
PaceFox opens youtube.com and netflix.com in its in-app browser. The providers and relevant rights holders supply their services and content under their own terms; PaceFox does not host or own their videos, supply a Netflix or YouTube subscription, or imply affiliation with or endorsement by those providers. Use is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and Netflix Terms of Use, including their age, supervision, account and household rules. A PaceFox account cannot override them. PaceFox remains responsible for its own app, processing and contractual obligations to the extent required by applicable law; these links do not transfer all responsibility to the providers. A separate provider subscription or suitable account may be required.
Browsing mode is not an automatic child-safety filter. Free includes up to five parent-approved YouTube videos and one channel, freely replaceable. Playlists, additional YouTube approvals and Netflix approvals require Plus; review your selections and any channel-wide approvals carefully. Approval does not mean PaceFox has reviewed the content, and website changes or incomplete metadata can affect filtering. These controls are not a guarantee that every item, recommendation or advertisement is appropriate.
Before first use of each provider for a child on a device, a parent unlocks setup with the parent PIN, reviews the provider notice and confirms the appropriate setup. This confirmation does not independently verify the provider account’s age or supervision status. If a provider login expires, parental help may be needed again.
Providers can use cookies, show advertisements and process data under their own privacy arrangements. PaceFox Plus does not remove provider advertisements or unlock paid content. We do not provide an offline video download feature. The Privacy Policy explains embedded website processing.
Provider, device and operating-system changes can affect playback and controls. We will address problems within our responsibility; your mandatory remedies remain available if the agreed service cannot be supplied. Do not use PaceFox to evade another service’s restrictions or access another person’s account without permission.
6. Free and PaceFox Plus
Free provides the core routine, today’s watching-time total and completed-break count for one child profile and one child-viewing device. A parent-only management device does not consume that viewing-device allowance. Plus adds connected-device management, daily limits, watching schedules, Timeout, Exception, approved-content controls and the family history described in the purchase screen. Watching schedules allow access only within the selected weekday time windows, using the family’s saved time zone; daily limits and the selected breaks still apply. Plus supports up to five child profiles and five child-viewing devices. Free activity is local; Plus history covers the current and previous family calendar month and requires active Plus to view. Detailed video history is optional, off by default and enabled by the parent separately for each child. Watching-time totals and completed-break entries continue independently of that choice.
The purchase screen and store confirmation identify the features, price, currency, billing period and any offer that you select. A roadmap, illustration or discussion of a possible feature is not a promise that an unreleased feature is included now.
If paid access ends, PaceFox will not silently remove restrictions and start unrestricted viewing. Managed viewing may remain paused until the parent renews or reviews the Free setup, selects the retained child/device and explicitly accepts any settings that must change. Account recovery, subscription management, deletion and support remain accessible.
7. Subscriptions and restoration
Monthly and yearly subscriptions
Monthly subscriptions are charged for one month at a time. Yearly subscriptions are charged upfront for one year. They renew automatically unless cancelled through the billing provider used for that purchase. We do not currently offer monthly instalments with a 12-month commitment.
Apple processes the payment and issues the store purchase confirmation. RevenueCat and our server verify the purchase so the family receives access. The price shown by the store at checkout, including applicable taxes, is the price to review before confirming.
Cancel renewal through your Apple account’s subscription settings. Cancellation normally leaves access in place until the current paid period ends. Deleting PaceFox or deleting the family account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Refunds and a purchase reversal can change access before the scheduled expiration.
Access codes
Web subscription checkout is not currently available. A valid PaceFox access code can grant lifetime Plus for the family account without starting a subscription. Code redemption deadlines and use limits apply before redemption; a redeemed lifetime grant has no scheduled subscription renewal. It does not include third-party video accounts or subscriptions. A code does not automatically cancel an existing Apple subscription; cancel renewal through your Apple account if you no longer need it.
Accounts and restoration
Sign in with the PaceFox parent account that made the purchase to use its access on your family’s connected devices. Store restoration also depends on the Apple account used to buy. Restoring the same store purchase while signed in to a different PaceFox account may move Plus access to that account and remove it from the previous account. This does not copy profiles, settings or history. Sign in to the intended PaceFox parent account before restoring; contact us if you are unsure which account owns your family data.
PaceFox’s family access covers the assigned profiles and connected devices within the plan’s limits; children do not need their own Plus purchase. It is separate from Apple’s Family Sharing service. App Store purchases are made through Apple.
Offers and price changes
No trial is included unless expressly displayed in an offer you choose. Any trial duration, later charge and cancellation instructions must be shown before you start it. Price changes for renewing subscriptions follow applicable law and Apple’s notice and consent requirements. A new price for future customers does not automatically change an existing contract.
8. Withdrawal, refunds and purchase problems
Your statutory withdrawal and consumer remedies are unaffected. Consumers in the European Union generally have a 14-day withdrawal right for distance contracts, subject to the rules for the particular digital content or service. Merely installing the app, starting to use it or accepting these terms does not by itself waive that right.
Where the law permits early loss of a withdrawal right, the necessary express consent, acknowledgement and confirmation must be obtained through the applicable contracting process. Digital services and downloaded digital content do not always follow the same rules. These terms do not substitute for the required purchase-specific withdrawal notice.
For an Apple-billed purchase, use Apple’s purchase support to request a refund or exercise the applicable store process. You may also contact us at mail@pacefox.app with a clear statement identifying the contract and your request. We will help with issues within our responsibility; a store process does not remove rights you have against us under applicable law.
If Plus does not activate after a completed payment, reopen the Plus screen to refresh access, use Restore purchases, or contact us if needed. Do not make another purchase just to resolve a verification delay. Include the product and approximate purchase time, but never your password or complete payment details.
9. Licence and acceptable use
You may use the app for your personal family use within the applicable licence and plan. The PaceFox name, artwork, mascot and software remain owned by us or our licensors. Third-party and open-source components retain their own licence terms; applicable notices must be provided with the distributed app.
You may not attempt to access another family’s data, guess pairing or PIN codes belonging to others, forge movement or purchase results, interfere with the service, redistribute the app unlawfully, or infringe another person’s rights. This does not restrict actions that mandatory law permits, including applicable interoperability rights or lawful security research.
You retain rights in information you provide. You authorize us only to process and display that information as needed to operate the service for your family and as described in the privacy notice. We do not need a licence to publish your child’s profile, camera images or family activity for advertising.
10. Updates, service changes and these terms
We provide updates required to maintain the service’s conformity, including necessary security updates, for the period required by law. Follow supported update instructions so the app can work correctly.
Where legally permitted, we may make other changes for concrete reasons such as adapting to operating-system or provider changes, maintaining compatibility, improving security, or meeting legal requirements. Such changes must not create additional charges without agreement. We will explain material changes clearly and provide advance notice on a durable medium where required.
If a qualifying change adversely affects your access or use more than insignificantly, your statutory right to end the contract without cost and receive any applicable reimbursement remains available. We do not reserve a general right to remove purchased functionality at our sole discretion.
Changes to these terms will be communicated as required by law. Where agreement is necessary, we will request it; silence or continued use is not automatically consent to every change.
11. Suspension, account deletion and ending use
You can stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. Delete the family account in the parent’s settings or contact us if you cannot access it. Deletion ends the family’s server access and starts the cleanup described in the Privacy Policy. Remember to cancel store renewals separately.
We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to respond to a serious security threat, unlawful use, missing legally required authorization or a material breach. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and provide an opportunity to resolve it before termination. Urgent protective action may be necessary first.
Suspension, discontinuation or termination does not remove any refund, damages or other remedy required by law. We will not terminate paid access arbitrarily to avoid an existing subscription commitment.
12. Consumer rights and liability
The service must meet the conformity and update requirements that apply to digital products. Depending on the circumstances, statutory remedies can include correction, a price reduction, termination, reimbursement or damages. Describing a technical limitation is not a waiver of those rights.
We remain liable without contractual limitation for intent and gross negligence, injury to life, body or health caused by our fault, fraud, an expressly assumed guarantee, and liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including applicable product-liability rules.
For other loss caused by ordinary negligence, we are liable for breach of an essential contractual obligation, limited to the loss that was foreseeable and typical for the contract, to the extent such a limit is lawful. Essential obligations are those needed to perform the contract and on which you may normally rely. Any other limitation applies only to the extent permitted by mandatory law. These terms do not impose a blanket monetary cap on your claims.
13. Applicable law and disputes
German law applies, without depriving a consumer of mandatory protections of the law of their country of habitual residence where those protections apply. Your mandatory rights concerning where a claim may be brought remain unaffected.
Contact us if there is a problem and we will try to resolve it. Doing so is not a compulsory prerequisite to using a court, regulator or other remedy available to you. These terms do not require binding arbitration or waive participation in collective proceedings where available.
If a provision is invalid, the applicable legal rules govern that issue; the other provisions remain effective where the law permits. An invalid provision is not automatically replaced with the broadest restriction we could have imposed.
14. Contact
For account help, include the parent account email and a short description of the issue. Do not include passwords, pairing secrets or a child’s camera images.
